A Little Information About Myself

My name is Anne.

I am trained as an integrated counsellor and I am a qualiified hypnotherapist.

During counselling sessions I may use a variety of therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) .

As a therapist, I do not provide advice or judge any behaviours or beliefs. I am trained to provide an environment within which you can feel safe to talk and enable you to make decisions and life choices that are appropriate for you. Therapies are all about change, it is about exploring feelings and there is nothing in me that wants to take anything away from you. I will offer you respect, warmth, honesty and trust at all times, and to be able to facilitate you towards a better quality of life.

After experiencing various life events some years ago, I trained as a counsellor. More recently I have undertaken additional training in psychology, hypnotherapy and stress management. I see these additional skills and knowledge as ways of helping those people who come to me.

At present as well as working as a private and independant counsellor and hypnotherapist, I also have provided voluntary counselling sessions to local mental health charity projects.

My qualifications include degrees in Applied Social Sciences and Psychology, diplomas in social work, counselling, stress management and hypnotherapy. I have also received training in a number of areas such as bereavement counselling, abuse (sexual, physical and psychological), substance misuse ( i.e. drugs and alcohol), depression and anxiety, suicide and self-harm, and also in anger management.
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I am registered with the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council and as such subscribe to both their Code of Ethics and Professional Practice. I am also a member of the Association of Independent practitioners (AIP),  the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals (FDAP), the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Alzheimer's Disease Society (ADS).
